Headase Wins Readers’ Favorite Psychological Thriller Book Award!

I’m truly honored to receive a Silver Medal from Readers Favorite in their Psychological Thriller category. Being in one of the most competitive categories, I am grateful to receive four 5-star reviews and also to be invited to their award ceremony in November 2022.

This is my second award since I released the 1st book in the Headcase series in March 2022. When I set out on this major career change from CFO to Fiction writer in early 2020, I had no idea what to expect. I have always had a vivid imagination, and coming up with the characters of Headcase and their backstories was fun and came together quickly. However, that doesn’t mean I could write a novel that would be gripping and suspenseful for the reader. I worked hard, and did a ton of editing and learning, as it took more than eight full rewrites to get to the published version.

I received a lot of positive emails from my readers, but most were from people who knew me. So, getting outside validation from Readers Favorite helped me feel confident that my first novel was as good as my friendly fans were saying.

My mission with my writing is to invite readers to engage in a journey of self-discovery using entertaining storytelling infused with wisdom, knowledge, and experience so it will inspire them to heal themselves.

By creating a story around pro athletes seeking help with their mental health, and even a sports psychologist himself who suffers from severe traumas and addictions, I hope to reduce the stigma around seeking help for mental health issues.

Like my review on Reedsy Discovery said, “This action-packed novel challenges the stigma of seeking help for mental health. Dr. Beck is like the James Bond of psychology. He makes seeking help feel edgy and sexy.

Thank you for all your continued support and enthusiasm in my rookie year as a writer.
